U-Ploid Biotechnologies wins Technology Excellence Award at the 2026 Oxfordshire Business Awards

OXFORD, 15 June 2026 — U-Ploid Biotechnologies, a venture-backed company developing next-generation reproductive health therapeutics, has won the Technology Excellence Award, sponsored by Gravita, at the 2026 Oxfordshire Business Awards (OXBA). The result was announced at the Awards Dinner on Friday 12 June on OXBA's 30th anniversary. The category recognised innovation and technical achievement across the county, with After Cloud and Versantus also shortlisted.

U-Ploid Biotechnologies is an Oxford biotechnology company developing Lyvanta (UP-085), a first-in-class engineered fusion protein designed to reduce meiotic aneuploidy in human eggs. Chromosomal errors in the egg are a leading cause of IVF failure, miscarriage and age-related infertility, and rise sharply with maternal age. By targeting that mechanism directly, Lyvanta aims to improve the quality of eggs available for treatment rather than the laboratory processes around them.

The award follows a year of progress for the company. In preclinical work presented at ASRM 2025, Lyvanta reduced aneuploidy by 84.3 percent in aged oocytes (n=306, p<0.0001). U-Ploid was incorporated in January 2024 and is based at the Oxford BioEscalator.

The Oxfordshire Business Awards have run since 1994 and remain one of the county's longest-standing celebrations of business performance. This year's ceremony, hosted by Oxford United club ambassador Peter Rhoades-Brown, marked three decades of the programme and named winners across nine categories.
