U-Ploid Biotechnologies wins Best Startup Biotech at the BioUK Awards 2026

OXFORD, UK, 22 October 2026 - U-Ploid Biotechnologies has won Best Startup Biotech at the BioUK Awards 2026. The winners were announced on Wednesday 21 October at a ceremony at the Royal Lancaster London. This year’s shortlist covered twelve categories, and the finalists were chosen by a judging panel of senior figures from across the UK life sciences sector.

U-Ploid is an Oxford-based biotechnology company developing Lyvanta (UP-085), a first-in-class engineered fusion protein designed to reduce meiotic aneuploidy in human eggs. Chromosomal errors in the egg are a leading cause of failed IVF cycles, miscarriage and age-related infertility, and they become much more common as maternal age rises. Lyvanta targets this mechanism directly, with the aim of improving the quality of the eggs available for treatment. In preclinical work presented at ASRM 2025, Lyvanta reduced aneuploidy by 84.3 percent in aged oocytes (n=306, p<0.0001).
